100% clean record against hospital-acquired infections
We take infection prevention and control extremely seriously, understanding patients’ concerns about the risks of getting infections when in hospital. You can rest assured that there are robust measures in place. We follow NHS England best practice guidelines to minimise the risks of acquiring infections such as C.Difficile and MRSA.
In our 2017 patient-led assessments of the Care Environment (PLACE) scores, which require a group of patient representatives to assess various aspects of our service against national guidelines, we achieved 100% for cleanliness.

Our service is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC), England’s independent regulator of health and adult social care. Getting you back to you, sooner
We believe that the sooner you can start your rehabilitation after surgery, the better. Our procedures are designed to give you a better quality of life, and we want to make sure that you can begin enjoying it as soon as possible. Our team of clinicians practice the Enhanced Recovery Pathway (ERP), which is a modern, evidence-based approach that helps people recover more quickly after having major surgery.
The length of stay at our hospital can be significantly shorter thanks to our ERP, so patients are back in the comfort of their own homes sooner. The early mobilisation associated with ERP also reduces the risk of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and infections. Read more about ERP and the benefits here.
Our Patient Advice Line, 01749 333 600, gives patients the opportunity to speak with a member of our clinical team to discuss any post-operative concerns they might have. This is available 24 hours a day, 365 days per year.
We even have a physiotherapy mobile app, Pocket Physio, with videos of simple but effective exercises that patients can do at home to help them prepare for and recover from orthopaedic surgery. Our Pocket Physio app is available for most devices.
99% of patients would recommend our hospital and services to their friends and family
The NHS Friends and Family Test (FFT) was created to help hospitals like us understand whether patients are happy with the service provided, or whether improvements are needed. It is a quick and anonymous way for patients to give their views after receiving care or treatment across the NHS.
The FFT has been rolled out across most NHS services and more than 25 million pieces of patient feedback have been submitted since its launch in 2013. Our average FFT score in 2017 shows us that 99% of patients would recommend our service to their friends and family. Learn more about FFT here.

Because we only deal with scheduled care, and no emergency cases, we are not affected by the NHS announcement to cancel all non-urgent surgery; if you are booked in for an appointment or surgery with us it will still go ahead.
